Re: Forum still alive?
It's going to be 24 x 16 feet, and 4ft deep (approx. 9500 gallon).
Filtration is still a big question at the minute...
I was considering going the nexus route, or econobead.
On the other hand, I have a large vortex and 6ft chamber filter which I may put to good use, and run a closed loop off that, like a fluid bed filter

Re: Forum still alive?
Sounds like a nice big pond, why so shallow? is there a reason for this? I have built many ponds for many people so have fitted all sorts of filters, one thing I will say is keep it simple and make it easy to maintain,A well maintained pond will only go from strength to strength.
Try to set it up to move 100% of the water every hour.
One of My favourite pond builds is just a little smaller than yours, has two bottom drains one goes to a Nexus 300 and the other drain feeds an Ultra sieve III and then back to pond via an Aquadyne 2.2 , so the best of both of Your proposed plans. This guys water is gin clear. Had it been twin Nexus the clarity would of been no where near as good, I think bead and Nexus work very well together.
If YOu have 5 minutes why not have a look at it on My web site, its Jason`s Pond

Re: Forum still alive?
Whats your website?
I'm keen on getting the filtration right.
It's going to be 4ft, because I cant go deeper than 12" because of an underground stream. and couldnt really go over 3ft above ground
