Re: Welcome New Member John
thanks very much for the welcome.
i've recently gone through the hard work of new pond syndrome and come out the other side unscathed.
and with a ph of 8.4 to 8.8 depending on time of day... i'm quite proud of that as i had to really keep an eye on the ammonia sometimes changing 200 gallons a week at the beginning
I rebuilt my pond earlier this year after relising i had made some massive design problems - huge folds, not deep enough, pump too big for filter, poisonous plants (to fish), a heron etc......
so out came the spade!
and the wallet....actually managed to complete this pond at under £1500 - utilising my old 55w uv, aquamax 8000 and old liner for the veggie filter.
anyway the end result was 2400 gallons that includes the 300gallon vaggie filter which i have 6 biocensis baskets (anoxic filtration) i still use the aquamax 8000, yep turned away from a bottom drain due to a huge lump of granite which would have needed dynamite to shift so an aerated retro is being used, througha 55w tmc uv and nexus 200 before returning to the veggie filter and then a wier return to the main pond...oh 30l of air through the retro and 70l in the nexus.
