    Koi Enjoyment Empty Koi Enjoyment

Post  valleykoi Tue Oct 13, 2009 3:26 pm

Can everyone tell me what they get out of their koi?

Is it just the pond and the water adding to the garden views.

The enjoyment of meeting fellow koi keepers?

The challenge of keeping the water right.

    And keeping the koi alive!

Visiting koi shops to choose new koi.

Then thinking have I got too many in my pond?

Helping other people on forums such as this when they are in trouble.

Share your thoughts instead of watching telly!!

    Me Too.

Just met a guy on another forum..it turns out he is a junior member and to cut a long story short he is losing fish and he has no filter...

Being a soft touch I said that I was sure i could find him an old filter. He was delighted so I asked if he had a pump..no!

After getting no replies from the other members I said I would send him an old filter...where do you live..Dublin!!

So postage double..no offers of a pump or transport from others.Funny how the post just dried up apart from me the dummy!

Anyway I have found a pump and filter for the lad and will be sending it tomorrow.I hope it is appreciated.

That is a very kind gesture from you Peter to help another fellow koi keeper without actually knowing the person. True human kindness.

Unfortunately as with life there are givers and takers I know you are a giver wherever you can and hopefully you have received from people along the way with the same kindness you have shown.

Its a funny hobby especially via the internet as people can be very different when you see them in person. Some not for the good.

I do hope you receive some thanks from this guy and he sticks around to learn, you have helped him on his way.

    St.Peter cheers Well done cheers

I hope the effort is worth it and the lad (I think he is young?)will continue with his love of koi...without killing them!

Sorry this young person was not greatful for what you offered him, I have found far too many people within this hobby who are always on the take and never give any thanks or anything back to the hobby. The great man above knows you are a kind soul. LOL

He did email in the end but no follow up.

I did this for the welfare of his koi.

They cannot live in filter free rubbish!
