What would you do ?

If you were treating a koi and you had it under anaesthetic and the gill movement stopped, what would you do ?

I would never do it myself as i would panic should something like that go wrong!

if you open the mouth with your finger,you will find the gills will open.do this in fresh aireated water.hopefully this will stimulate the koi .

Yes that is one way, how long would you persist doing this if everytime you stop the gills stop again ?

would giv it a couple of mins,also gary had some stuff but for the life of me cant remeber the name,its expensive that he injects next to the anal fin.

Wow that is taking it another step further, would it be adrenalin ?

not sure, just remember gary saying the injection was worth more than the koi lol,but atleased he tried

More to the point did it work and he saved the koi ?

it made the koi breath again ,but sadly it was all in vain .

So back to original query how long should you keep persisting and when do you give up ?

as long as it takes. i once held a koi in oxygen for 2 hours, after it jumped out. this koi is fine now, so it was worth it.

Well to be honest I would finish the treatment ASAP and then get it in the air.

I have done it with a big 24 inch+ for over 40 mins and boy did my back ache!!!!
