Despite many Japanese writers professing the business name of JiMbei it is, in fact JiNbei.

I think alot of people still consider nigata area the main hub of koi breeders, although the southern dealers are trying to attract westerners.

Nigata is the true home of Koi but for Me I believe the best breeders are in the south, I just love Matsue Kohaku, Momotaro Sanke and Omosako Shiro, and would fill My pond with these very easy. I think I only have one Northern breed koi in My pond. She only went in back in October so will be interesting to see how She develops (exclusive sanke)
I have had many northern Koi since I started keeping KOi,I would say all My southern stuff has turned out better. I would not put this down to logistics, more the amount I have learnt since keeping koi, as everything I have purchased over the last few years, with the exception of a couple has come from a dealer who stocks only koi from the south.

No not tried it, dont even know how it works. Secondary Hi is genetic so how can You get rid of it. I have seen a certain dealer knock a fish out cut most of its cheeks out then pack with PP paste. I think it worked, but a little barbaric for My taste
