not long now before i get the skimmer filter up and running, heres the spec: wide mouth skimmer converted from 1 1/2" to 3 " pipe opening had to do this as it is gravity fed and when i set it up first time on the gravity feed the pump was drawing the water out of the filter too fast as the small pipe work was too restrictive, new pipe now runs into a larger filter which is now a narrow rectangular bin through a couple layers of jap mat outlet to a hiesnner dry mount pump returning back to home made waterfall. pics to follow v.soon.

Re: skimmer filtration
Look forward to seeing the pics of this skimmer & Filter as I have seen it partly made in person and a good job you have made of it, did you get the mesh size you were wanting ?

Hi Chrissy
no mesh yet just going to use a piece of jap mat at the mo, the Shiro has settled in perfectly swimming around and already munching away.
