Small Pond Build
I have been given the task of building a small feeder pond btween the filter and main pond, any ideas on this as the owner wants it planted only then fed into main pond.

Re: Small Pond Build
What plants is he looking for Chrissy - deep water lillies or marginals? Is the pond pump or gravity fed?

Re: Small Pond Build
Pond is pump fed and the pipe you can see in the picture is from the filter 4inch return. He is leaving it to me to build and plant and workout a style to return into pond. A nitrate filter sprang to mind also wondered about the annoxic style filter.

Re: Small Pond Build
The main pond is 3,000 gals and oval shaped with a plant shelf which is just visible on the left of pic. There is a drop of about 3ft from the filters to the hole were he wants the pond building. Not measured it up yet at a guess 2m x 2m.
I think he has had a go at a DIY job and given up, he now wants the area sorting and the wife wants it looking pretty.LOL Did tell him he could save himself a shed load of money and put an aquafuser in the main pond to do a better job of oxygenating the pond. But he wants what he wants and its upto me to provide it. I am still talking pond here LOL

Re: Small Pond Build
Thanks for the vote of confidence, its quite a daunting task at the moment as I need to make a waterfall out of something to get it down to ground level. As I am not a brickie I am thinking maybe stainless steel shute or glass shelf allowing water to drop straight into planted pond.

Re: Small Pond Build
I think he is looking for something with a wow factor as a backdrop to the main pond so trying to come up with something creative, money is no barrier.lol

Re: Small Pond Build
OK PERSPEX, looks like glass but dont fall to our winters.seen this in office, and is the buisness. this is not a pond as such, a tunnel that runs through the factory.million aye who loves his koi.the koi are to die for.im not far off the mark by saying when we worked there he spent £11.000 safe guarding his koi. so why not get a perspex ladder made to size.
