Water Top Up's Empty Water Top Up's

    Post  chr1ssy Sat Feb 14, 2009 4:07 pm

I did my water top up today which is normal for a weekend. What I dont have is a way of measuring the amount to ensure it is a 10% change. Also I need to fit a auto top up to the system as yet again I went indoors and forgot it was topping up. 2 hrs later I realised so I think it has had a good refresh this week. Very Happy

So how do others do a water change and know it is 10% of your volume ?

Another bad habit of mine as well.

I now have measured the depth of all ponds and drop it 10% and watch on the level.Main pond 7000 gallon(60in deep) so drop the level 6in and then top up.I set the timer on the cooker so I dont forget.!!

Not the most accurate but it works for me.

Not laughing at all LOL Had mishaps a plenty over the years including the temp vat when I was moving house, the neighbour was not too happy with 1,500 galls of water covering his garden and lawn. Pump fed filters are a nightmare for this and have the potential to completely empty ponds.

Will have to look at fitting a shutoff on the topup pipe especially as I am already on a water meter.
